Organizational Structure


I. Governance

  • The Drift Creek Nature Center (DCNC) is directed by the Drift Creek Nature Center Advisory Board (DCNCAB)
  • In all matters the DCNCAB is responsible to the Drift Creek Camp (DCC) Board of Directors and the DCC Administrator(s).

II. The Advisory Board (DCNCAB)

  • The DCNCAB is a self-selected, self-perpetuating group of interested persons, 5-10 in number.
  • Terms of service on the DCNCAB should be for three-year terms, renewable times three.
  • All appointments and reappointments to the DCNCAB Board shall be reviewed and approved by the DCC Board of Directors.
  • Officers of the DCNCAB shall be President, Vice-President and Secretary to be elected by the DCNCAB membership.
  • At least one member of the DCC Board of Directors, the Camp Director(s) and Program Director shall be members of the DCNCAB.
  • The DCNCAB shall develop a Strategic Plan for the Center and update it on an annual basis.
  • DCNCAB is charged to research, develop, promote and manage Environmental Learning and Creation Care program as an extension and enhancement to the DCC program.

III.  Operating Guidelines

  • Finances shall be handled by DCC staff as best determined by the DCC Director(s) and Board
  • Any fundraising activities for the DCNC except for voluntary designations including memorials shall be approved by the DCC Board.
  • Copies of all records of DCNCAB meetings or transactions shall be sent to the DCC Administration/Board.
  • Drift Creek Camp is the owner of all properties acquired by and for the DCNC.
  • An Annual Report shall be made by the DCNCAB to the DCC Board of Directors to be included in the Annual Report to Members of Drift Creek Camp.
  • The DCNCAB shall meet at least four times a year at times agreed on by the members.
